ILLUSION

It calls to her
Its beauty tempts her
Drawing her closer
She puts a hand out
Stroking it, feeling it
She embraces it, holding it close.

It roars to life
She feels the power
She tells it’s harmless
It soothes her
She clings to it with ease
It warms her blood.

She shuts her eyes
The flames tease her
A face comes into focus
Memories of bliss spring forth
Serene dreams of happiness
Serene dreams of love.

The roars die down
Her pupils cease to dilate
She takes a shaky breath
The face soon fades
Her clouded mind clears
It was all an illusion.
