MORTALITY

I know of death
I’ve seen death
I have seen it knocking at foreign gates
It creeps slowly
It creeps nearby
It embraced a friend
A friend close to my heart.

My mortality hits me
I live on borrowed time
I know not what my future reads
A clock keeps ticking…
I know not where it leads
A clock chimes…
I know not when it ends
The clock slows down…

The clock pauses…
My plans are altered by my mortality
Time is at a halt
Tears hang on eyelashes
A tear escapes and falls
My existence is no more
I was just an entity
A slave to mortality.
